Trim tab screw

I have an alpha one gen 1 outdrive that I bought used. I am trying to drop the lower unit to check the impeller. The trim tab and screw is in bad shape. I soaked the screw in WD 40 before trying to turn it. When I attempted to remove the screw, it stripped the allen slot. Can anyone tell me how to get this screw out? Is it possible to break the trim tab without doing other damage to get it off? I am getting frustrated. Thanks

I would step drill it out. Start with a small bit and work your way up tilll you get the bolt out. tab will just fall out. Then replace trim tab and bolt. Just make sure you dont hit the case with the bit.

If this was mine, I would be drilling the head off...using a drill bit slightly smaller than the threaded portion of the bolt. The allen head recess, although useless with an allen wrench, would center the bit perfectly.
