Re: Trim Tabs

oh one more ???

So with the fast changing conditions of the oceans, the tabs will adjust quick enough and often enough?

And will this allow for a more comfortable ride...perhaps less "banging"? Also will they help us have a more comfortable ride at higher speeds, or am I just dreaming?

Thanks a lot for all your help. I've read a lot of the previous posts, and it seems as though you have a 100% satisfaction rate. You obviously make an awesome product. I'm just trying to figure out if its something we need.

Re: Trim Tabs

We are not even comparing apples to apples, as my boat is a Bass Boat, 18' so I very rarely see really rough water, (allthough there is one lake here that gets 4' swells). The reason Im posting is because of how my wife likes the tabs, Im in love with them also, but she thinks they are the best thing ever. She really doesnt like to go really fast and is really happy just slowly cruising along. I can now stay on a smooth plain at 20 MPH or even less at about 2,500-3,000 RPM. Instead of just going out to go fishing, we are finding ourselves going to differnt areas and even rivers and just taking rides and sightseeing. Its quite ecomomical being able to plane so slowly and just cruising along and quite enjoyable also. Even though I like to go fast, I am enjoying these outings also.

John will do anything he can posibly do to make sure your installation goes well and you are 100% happy with your purchase.

Re: Trim Tabs

Molly;

Your not dreaming! Best Ride you will ever have.

Mellow:

We have put them on boats as big as 26' but we generally like to stay at the 22' limit, however this is the hull length without the swim platform.

They are for sale here on iboats, and for a boat your size you should order either the ST1290-60 or ST1290-80. Unless you have an unusual weight balance proplem, a V8 I/O, or a 200 HP outboard, you will probably be better off with the ST1290-60. Keep in mind that if you need more lift (80 Lb.) we will exchange them at no charge with in the first 30 days of use. They are all interchangable.

Re: Trim Tabs

Molly;

Side note - you have a new boat, probably new to boating, and you have already identified ride and handling issues that you do not like. That did not take too long did it? People new to boating don't understand that full throttle acceleration to plane, rocking and rolling, poor visibility, and pounding through the waves is just the way it is. You drive to the lake in a comfortable car , pickup, or SUV then get into your boat to be hammered. If you bought the boat from a dealership the sales person probably did not address the trim tab issue, or if he did he said "This boat does not need them". If it was not a topic for discussion during the purchase, call him and he will tell you do not need them. He is correct! You don't. You don't need a boat, car, TV, telephone, or a bunch of other niceties that we have all come to enjoy and depend upon.
However, since you already have the boat, you may as well enjoy it to the fullest, save some gas, and have a comfortable ride. If your salesman likes to waist fuel, have his "but" hammered, and struggle to keep his boat under control, then that's his choice (remember he is the expert).

Now that I have relieved myself of a bunch of sarcastic comments, I will probably get verbally hammered, and may well deserve it.
Here is my point, When people have been doing something the same way for a long time, they become comfortable with the "the devil they know". Remember the old saying - "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't".

If everyone felt that way, I would be sending you this message via "Snail Mail" or Pony Express, or maybe carved out of stone. Not everything "new" is good, and you should do your research, but you should also qualify the answers and those giving the answers. If you have read the "posts" on our product, the only people who have questioned the products function and performance are those who have not used it.

Re: Trim Tabs

Not new to boating, but new to boating in the ocean. We originally bought the boat for the lake (we have a home out in Lake Mohave which is a 5hr drive away). The boat does handle very well out there, and the patented "Stable V" truly is stable. Closest thing to riding in a car WHEN on the lake. Problem is the ocean.
We did talk to the dealer about trim tabs, and your right, he said no need. Said those cut out grooves on the bottom (again a patent) should take care of the bow rise. While we do not porpoise, I think a better ride could be found on the ocean with your trim tabs. I am indeed impressed with all the WONDERFUL things owners have said. Youre right again, anyone who has them, loves them. It sounds like I cant go wrong.

So when my husband stops puking, he'll call you.

Just curious, If we have someone else install them, how much do you think they would charge? (Its that cutting into the boat fear).

P.S. Sorry to have taken over this thread, and spend so long on it. I think I'm sold. Just want to make sure the tabs will do what I want, and thats a comfortable ocean ride.

Re: Trim Tabs

Molly;

Down load the instructions from our Web site www.nauticusinc.com and read them as they are set up for consumer installation. We include everything you will need to install them except the tools and the boat. Even a sealant material for the screw holes. The installation should take about one hour including the assembly. So whatever the hourly rate is would be what you should pay. i still think you should do the installation yourself, as you will them understand the system better. I would be glad to talk you through the installation over the telephone. 800-233-0194
