Dont know the weight, but its a 15 ft glasstream bowrider. It's a ford 4 cylinder motor 2.3 liter. I'm wanting to fish out of this boat,so i want to add a trolling motor to the bow. Any help with shaft length and lbs would be appreciated. I was given this boat, cant afford a bass boat, I'm wanting to modify the front of it by adding a platform and pedestal seat. Am I crazy or can this be done. Also, when I buy the battery for trolling motor is there a way I can hook up the alternator to trolling motor battery?

iboats website under "trolling motor" show how to select thrust and shaft length. Very easy to do.

Your i/o alternator will not keep the trolling motor battery charged. Battery needs to be hooked up for a much longer time period to properly charge it. Well, unless you only plan on using it a few minutes a day, and run the i/o for quite a while.

Better to buy a small automatic charger and plug the battery to it when you get home. Leave it hooked up and the battery will be good to go when you want it next.

As far as a trolling motor, you should be able to get by with one in the 46-54# thrust range, 12 volt model so you only need one battery.
