Shopping around online for the best prices on brush sets & seal kits for my old 36lb motorguide (crowleymarine.com is about half everyone else), I discovered that for $144 I can get a complete 43lb lower unit assembly, and a 52lb lower unit is only $161. Put the parts lists side by side, there's no differences apart from lower unit assy and decals; the wiring is all the same.

Far as mating the L/U to the shaft, manual says "Apply 7 drops loctite 262 (red), Torque to 30 to 40 ft/lbs, Wipe off any excess". Means it has to be heated in order to separate, right? And how do you measure torque when you don't have a socket to fit a lower unit?

All the other components to my motor are in perfect working condition. well ok, the mount is getting shaky. Is there some downside to this I'm not seeing?

thanks,
