Trolling motor question

I'm a boat newbie and have been looking at trolling motors. I know a 12 volt one hooks up to a 12 volt battery. Some are 24 volt motors. Aside from the obvious voltage difference, what type of battery would you connect it to, or just how does it work I have a used Pelican Predator 2 man boat ( my brother calls it a floating bathtub )

Welcome to iboats.

24Volt motors use two 12V batteries connected in series.

I doubt that you need a 24V motor for your Pelican, or that you have room for the two batteries.

Thanks for the answer. The trolling motor I have is a 12 volt Motor Guide. I was just curious about the 24 volt deal. Now it makes sense:redface:
