Trolling motor runs in reverse

I have a Motor Guide 740 41 lbs of thrust bow mount with foot control. It runs in the opposite direction that the arrow points. It has 2 wires 12 volt. Can I just reverse the wires on the plug socket? Thanks.

It is either that or make sure you have it connected to the battery the right way also.

If it is not wired reverse then the arrow is backwards. There are no other ways for it to be backwards... Has to be either the wires connected incorrectly or the arrow has been changed!

Thanks guys. I had a new plug and socket installed and they must have switched the wires.

Mine did the same thing. I just reversed the wires at the battery and it solved the issue.

So really you don't have to do anything beyond going back to the installer and telling them to get it right...
