I have a 1998 24 volt Johnson trolling motor that runs on high all the time. I changed speed control switch but that didn't help. The motor will run with switch completly unhooked.

Did the motor just develope this problem / Or has someone accidently miss wired the switch. That is very easy to do. Call Johnson motors, ask for TECH SUPPORT, tell the person what has happned. Piece of cake to them. Have booklet of motor OR pencil and paper to write down how to rewire it O K. :)Back of my Minn kota says Johnson Try 1-800-227-6433. :)

Might be good to know the model number of the motor Troy. During their last few years, OMC marketed some trolling motors that I believe were made by Minn Kota as well as their own. They might be able to help.
