Not necessarily a bad idea, you're only going to use it for maneuvering and 100 lbs of thrust can move a large craft just not at any great speed.

If you go the trolling motor option, get one with a remote and you can control it from anywhere in the boat.

is that your boat? is that twin outboards? if you have twins you don't need a thruster, just more practice

Thanks for the encouraging reply. Speed not important. Usually we're dead (or nearly so) in the water and just need to make some fine adjustments coming into or out of a lock or mooring. Once in a while wind or current could be a factor.

Nope, no twin outboards - I think you're seeing a couple of white plastic chairs on the aft deck that look like the tops of outboard housings!
Just a 3 cylinder 42 HP Volvo diesel inboard (that sips just a liter of diesel an hour) that gets us going as fast as required (5 mph on the canals). See pic of her stern.
