I have a 24' party barge with a less than reliable outboard on it.

What size trolling motor (thrust) would I need to push this size party barge? I'd like to stay away from 24 volt motors; so that may limit me to the size of trolling motor.

I'd like to get a motor that I could quickly mount to my transom.

Any suggestions? Is it realistic to use a trolling motor as an alternate means of propulsion?

Thanks

Re: Trolling Motor

Pack your bags. You'll be moving soon...

If I'm not mistaken (and I don't think I am) the biggest 12V trolling motor is 55#. Nowhere near enought to be use as alternative power for a 24' barge. :(

For something that big, I think a gas kicker would be alot better choice.

What size kicker motor?

How would this mount? It doesn't look as if there is enought room on the transom.
