Hey guys,
I have looked all over to try and figure out what year motor I am working with here. On the model tag it says BF9.9a. The serial number on the starboard plate is BABS-1601792. The more obvious would be that it says 2006 epa compliant on the hood, as well as on the sticker on the port side of the motor (that sticker also says YC on it.) I will post some pics.

Here is the issue. When I look up 2006 Honda BF9.9A on here, the waterpump kits that I find have the round impeller key. The one on this motor is square and set into the shaft. I want to make sure to get the right waterpump kit.

You can see the square keyway in the impeller. The waterpump housing is melted so time for a new one. (Nevermind the poor installation of the impeller.........)

The kits I see have a half moon shaped key. The round side goes into the shaft and the square side fits into impeller. What does the key itself from your motor look like? Normally on the Hondas, the complete model number includes a key for the year. I believe a d3 in model would indicate a 2006 year.

Thanks for the reply. The key that I have is inset into the shaft like a typical woodruff key. There is no half moon side. It is very odd to me. The cut in the impeller looks the same, just a square slot. I am sure that the impeller will still fit on the old keyway, but I want to pull the plate and change it also, and this old key is really inthere and I may have to get the dremel out to get it out.

No Title

So here is the keyway that I have in the driveshaft. Here is the part number for the kit, although Im not sure if it is correct. Does anyone know when Honda used this type of key in their shafts? Here is the part number of the kit (which is NLA supposedly.........) 06193-ZV4-000

I think you want the 06192-zv4-00, not a 06193....

The issue is that the waterpump housing is melted, and the kit you listed doesn't have the housing. Nor does the diagram for those years of motors even show a housing. This is very frustrating.

So why not get the 06193-ZV4-000 kit? You can buy it off ebay for $68.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/06193-ZV4-0...ebuild-Kit-for-BF9-9A-and-BF15A-/120997048100

If you look at Honda's site...http://peparts.honda.com/marine#/browse/oe/bf/bf9

You can see they do offer the housing...and it appears as if the part numbers are used for all the listed 9.9A models. For some reason, Honda's site is not recognizing your serial number as valid...are you sure it's posted correctly?

Sorry I can't be more help here...but I think the kit would work. Look at it and your parts and see if they match up and look the same.

Thanks for the help! Ok I am getting somewhere here! I talked to the owner and he found the paperwork. The motor is a BF9.9AY SAS. Comes up as a 2000. For some reason the kit for that motor is only showing a gasket, plate and impeller. Will the 06193 kit be the right kit for this motor?

Here is the main difference that I can see. Some motors have a gasket between the pump housing and plate. Some have an O-ring.......

Ok so I figured out that the 06193-ZV4-000 kit is in fact the kit used on the 1997-2000 9.9 motors so I ordered one. There is a gasket between the plate and housing, NOT an oring like the newer 9.9's. Thanks for all the help!
