I have a 3 cyl 35hp 1997 Evinrude that has run great all season.
On Sat, I started it up as normal, and after about 30 sec, it would quit. Restarted with a little trouble, and then would just quit again after about 30 sec. Did this about 8 times. Swithched fuel tanks and still had the same problem.

Finally got it going and ran it for about 15min with no problems at high speed. Sunday morning, it started again right away and then quit after 30 sec. Couldn't get it started again.

I'm sort of stuck for ideas as to what would be causing that. Any suggestions?

thanks,

FishHog

Re: Trouble Shooting Help

Try pumping the primer bulb when it starts to die and see if it continues to run. This could mean your fuel pump is shot. Also, be prepared with a spray bottle of premix to shoot some into the carb when it starts to die. This would indicate a clogged carb if it continues to run if you shoot gas in the carb and it stays running. Might change out the bulb in the meantime to eliminate it as the cause.. Does the bulb firm up??

I actually swithced fuel tanks to a second line and bulb, just to eliminate that as a problem. Still doing the same thing, and the buld stays hard, infact it doesn't run long enough to even use the fuel in the line.
