Hi,
I recently bought my first boat. It has a 1993 Johnson 9.9 outboard motor that I am finding really difficult to start.
I have been taking it out about once a week for the last 4 months ( I bought it Oct 08) and it has been a pain from the start.
It will start after a few pulls initially (never straight away) but when I stop, it takes forever to start again.
I have tried taking the cover off whilst I am stopped to let the engine cool. I have tried disconnecting the fuel line just before I stop to let her run dry and not flood with petrol. I have replaced old spark plugs with identical new ones.
I think that I am running her on the right mix.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received as I really enjoy going out on the boat but, its worrying & frustrating when you think that your not going to get back.
