I recently got a boat with a force 85 motor it has been garage kept past two years and everything worked when it was put away. I got it up and running but am having water pump issues. I tried using the muffs and a tote of water on intake and nothing. Also tried putting water through output and it doesn’t seem to be making it back to intake. I can turn wrenches but not very knowledgeable with boat motors what can I check or look for to troubleshoot this issue

Impeller replacement is pretty straight forward. Just be sure you order an OEM ( quicksilver) impeller/ seal kit. Lots of youtube vids out there.
dropping the lower end of the outboard is only a couple bolts. Once you drop the lower you’ll see the impeller housing. Just make sure you take note of the impeller orientation when you remove it. Here’s the underside of mine when i replaced it. Good luck

When in a tub the impeller MUST be submerged.-----Simple mistakes are made all the time.----Covering the water intake screen is not good enuff.

Add another 6" of water or test run at the lake / river
Thank you for the advice I got it high as I could at home and it was spitting so took it to a lake near home. Thanks for saving me the time and money throwing parts at it

Most times not enough pressure from the hose or not deep enough in a bucket.
Taping in place will help too.
