The only downside I can see is that you are going to need a bigger boat.

I hope the misses doesn't see this lol. Maybe that will be our honeymoon present

Thank you for all of the helpful info, from getting the temp on-star account to all the knowledge of this truck/engine. I was trying to play around and figure out when I was on 4cyl, I guess it was a bit noticeable but now that I know there is a light it will make life easier.

Getting used to 6speeds is a bit different. I got on her pretty hard just because I wanted to know... and it was quite an interesting sound compared to my old 5.3l. The suction was quite intense. There is some DANG cold air in this thing. I put it down to 67 and I swear it's a whole other level of cold.

It's a completely different truck then my retired Silverado that's for sure...I have breaks, I have steering...very responsive.

The switch from 8 cyls to 4 cyls is completely seemless on my suv's and since there is no indicator of any kind to let you know when you are in 4cyl mode, you'd never know you had it or honestly when it is on or off. The average mileage maybe goes up a little but since it is average and not instant on my trucks, it really is a mystery. All I know is the best tank of gas I ever got when manually calculating the mpg's was 17.9 with probably 90% highway and almost no highway stopping for traffic and driving with a light foot. Driving it hard as I usally do, I get about 17.7mpg manually calculated. Both my suv's are the on demand AWD system with no option to lock in to 4wd like you have in your truck. Of course mine are both 4 speeds. Your truck has that nice little knob where you can set it to on demand AWD denoted as 4AWD for weather days and combined with the stabilitrac system, your new truck will be awesome in the snow and rain for those times when you are caught off guard. On the worst, glare ice days you can imagine, you can drive in 4AWD like you stole it and the computer makes it seem as though it is a nice summer day of course you won't stop any faster though.

I can say hands down, my GM's have had the best air conditioning of all my cars ever. My 12 year old minivan's ac has never been serviced, charged, fixed or anything and I can't believe it still works good and it is a minivan with extra rear ac so a lot more to go wrong and still just fine.

Agreed don't be fooled by their similar numbers on paper. 4.8 is a dog.

I myself have been searching for a similar truck around N.C. and pretty frustrated so far. Lot's of used 4.8s for sale here and most all of the adds and window stickers just say "V-8" when it's the 4.8 so I assume the dealers know the 4.8s are'nt very popular and try not to disclose that. Used trucks w 5.3s are hard to find but the 4.8s are abundant. I think I know why so many are for sale, the owners got tired of them quickly and traded for the 5.3. That is a great deal on a nice ride you have there. It would be priced in the mid to upper 30s in my area from the few i've seen for sale

I think it was a fair deal for sure. Now my problem is I just discovered the Lariat...I haven't ridden in it, and I haven't towed with it... but my buddy has a 4door with some nice goodies like park-assist, backup-cam, navigation, all the really nice electronics... more to go wrong but I may be having slight buyers remorse... You looking for a Silver one LOL..it's cleaner than when I bought it a week ago!
