I was offered a set of Pontoons from a Pontoon Boat, Had a crazy ? idea, I was thinking of makling a scissor type arrangement where I can tow the pontoons to the water then unload and mechanically scissor the pontoons wider (More than 8 feet maybe 9 or 10 feet ein width, lock in place and then load my pickup camper on the Pontoons and have a semi ready Houseboat? Is this a dumb idea Guys? Im thinking i need to know how to calculater the flotation capacity of the Pontoons themselves. Thanx Mike

I'm not laughing, Mike. Could be doable. Once floating, how would you x-fer truck camper to the barge?. I don't think weight capacity would be much of an issue. Good luck !!!

Depends how good you are at engineering I geuss, anything is doable and I seen at least 2 different expanding toons like you are wanting to build.

A guy at work just showed me a picture of a toon with a 20-24' camper on it so this isn't new idea at all just a matter of if you can pull it off.

Keep us posted with pics, sounds like an interesting project, and I am with Rooster, getting the camper on the barge was the first problem I saw too.
