Trying to find the year of my evinrude 50 hp vro

I have tried to find the exact year of my motor. I have asked the previous owner and he THINKS it's an 87. The number on the quarter sized plug on top of the block is
G2516707. I took the number to my local PRO Marine store and THEY can't seem to reference it. Can anyone help?

Here is the link to the parts listings and if you select 1897 and 50hp, you will see that there were 4 models for that year. The CU refers to 1987.
It is the model number you will need to find the year.

Sometimers you can track it down by looking up part numbers for power packs or rectifiers.
But the model number should be on a welch plug in the head if not on the leg plate.

Still can't find the year...every number i put in to any search says that it can't find it...i must have the only motor to exist and they didn't make anything extra for it, lol
