Two Blocks One Motor

I've searched this site and others but I'm not finding an answer.
I'm trying to resurrect a 1985 85 hp force motor with a burned out cylinder block.
It was ran too lean and melted the exhaust port.
I found another block but it doesn't have the carburetor half of the block.
To use two halves from separate motors will I need to have the crank journals re-machined as a set or should they work without machining?

The two halves are a matched set. If you decide to do it, I would at least have it checked out by a machine shop and see what they say. Since the block supports the main crankshaft bearings, I would think that it's critical that the crankshaft bore in the block be properly aligned.

At the factory the two would have been line bored as a pair ....you would have to put the two together and see if it looks out of alignment ...fitting your crank and bearings and seeing if it binds would be a good start ...
