Two Line Pressure Tanks Not Pumping Fuel To Carb

Totally rebuilt two pressure tanks with new diaphragm, gasket and orings in fuel fitting. When I pump the button I feel a slight bit of air push through the fuel screen at bottom of tube. However, it won't pump fuel to the carburetor bowl. I cleaned pickup tube and screen soaking in solvent, so I think it's clean and there is some pressure generated pumping the priming button.

Any ideas? Thank you.

The thumb pump works like a primer bulb in a single line system -- pumps/pushes fuel to the carb. When the engine cranks and starts, the tank is pressurized and fuel continues to be provided by pressure. I wonder if you have the hose lines reversed/crossed.

I have the air on the tank to the air on the fitting and fuel to fuel. I can't get any fuel coming out of the fuel barb when I pump the button. I am trying to prime the fuel bowl with fuel for initial start.

Might pull fuel hose off the motor fitting and see if fuel is pumped from the open hose (i.e., problem at the fuel fitting).

If I pull the fuel hose off the motor I am getting no fuel by pumping the button. No fuel with fitting removed and open hose. It's clearly an issue with the tank, but I don't know what to try. Minnie has new store-bought boobs and just needs some fuel to light her fire.

Both hoses open?

Yes sir. I pulled the tank assembly and unscrewed the pickup tube. When I pump diaphragm and release it, there is a slight vacuum. I assume enough to pull fuel to pump up the bowl. I'm guessing the issue is the pickup tube and the check valve at the end of it. It's not stuck. I'm soaking it in carb cleaner for a few hours in case there is crud keeping it from functioning. It looks clean and check valve moves freely, but I don't know what else to try.

You should be able to hear the check valve in the pickup time rattle around if you shake it. Just soaking it usually won't get them free if they're stuck. Poke a small hole in the center of the screen and push up with a small punch or awl.

So if I blow on the filter end air comes out the top of the tube. If I install the tube back on the fuel tank assembly and push the primer button I feel a little bit
of suction at the filter end. Seems like it should work?

Took pump assembly apart, cleaned out all passages again with solvent and ran twist tie through them. It works. It's always the easy stuff. Note to self...start there first instead of full on conspiracy theory causes.
