Pry it out with a screwdriver. A new one comes with a new bellows.

Yes, they sell the sleeve seperately, but if you had water in the bellows, you need to replace it. There is a hole in it someplace. That is why your gimbal bearing was falling apart.

even if it come apart leaving piece inside ?the bellow is not damage water get in because of cavitation of the gimbal housing . i think its a problem with them because it is not the first seeing one like that .

Ayuh,...... I'll try.......

TH has a Junk Gimbel Bearing,.... The center piece came out.....

Instead of pulling the Questionable Motor out,+ driving the offending piece Out,+ finishing the Gimbel Bearing Job,......

I Guess he's going in from the aft,+ wants to reuse his Bellows........

How fast does a gimbal housing have to spin to cavitate?

Gimbal housing cavitation is caused when the financial vacuum of boating creates a low pressure area that boils away your sanity, it is hot enough to burn any unprotected metal parts (it incinerates wallets) within 37.2 feet.

Oh yeah, when do get to the reinstalation part, invest in the bellows sleeve insertion tool. Mine cost $30-40(IIRC) and was worth every penny.

My bet is that if he's going to risk re-using a $50 bellows to save money he's not about to buy an insertion tool................ :)

yeah $50 ?, here the bellow cost $152.00 and our money is greater than the us currency ,and i have purchase the bellow sleeve it cost $37.62 cent now tell me who wouldnt want to check and see what is useable ,only 1 place here have and sell these parts....i sure know how to spend my money and i got to do it wisely ,my bellow is good no crack very flexible....no sign of aging ,it look like it had been change already ,and i am sure if there are not no problem before, iam planning to change all those parts soon anyways whether they are good are bad. i am not cheap but i think before i spend my money because i know how i earn it.(My comments have never mean to be harsh but to maginfy ones justible reason)

This is a shot in the dark but I am thinking you are Canadian? I went to your profile and nothing there.

If so, try this web site in Canada. Prices are reasonable. That price for an Alpha one bellow seems outrageously high.

I know, no direct links. :D

Re: U joint bellow sleve removal.

Sorry if I caused any offense with my remark about not buying an insertion tool. If you know someone with a lathe and a piece of scrap aluminum (or steel or plastic for that matter) it takes about 2 minutes to make one, it's just a disk with a lip turned down to a slightly smaller diameter than the sleeve.

and i have purchase the bellow sleeve it cost $37.62

iam planning to change all those parts soon anyways whether they are good are bad

Why not get the insertion tool and a new bellows and go ahead and and do it right the first time instead of wasting $37.62 on a sleeve you will be replacing soon anyway?

Somebody here has the signiture 'Why is there always never enough time to do it right the first time but always enough time to do it over" or something similar - good point!
