Re: Uh Oh

Thats exactly right Brian. Thats why blocks still crack when they freeze and sometimes the plugs pop out, sometimes they dont. They really arent designed to save engines from cracking.

Re: Uh Oh

In my experince, The 2.5/3.0l blocks will freeze Crack in only 3 different places......
1 is on the outside of the block, Just Below the frost/Core plugs(which are on the port side)... This 1 can actually be fixed/band-aided with Epoxy putty... Usually lasts a few years....
Another spot is Just under the deck(just below the headgasket),same side of the motor as the 1st 1.... These Usually Don't take to an epoxy repair... The headbolts will actually pull the crack open.....
The 3rd spot is the Worst.... It's Inside the block, portside, Behind the frost/core plugs..... If you Try an epoxy repair on this 1, results are usually not the best... Too much oil in the Iron for a good bond.... Worst thing is, When it Leaks, it's Into the base/oil.... The 1st 2 will only leak into the bilge....
The last place to look is along the bottom of the exhaust manifold, right along the parting line of the casting......
