I have some questions regarding underwater cameras.
1.Are they a worthwhile tool or just a gimmick?
2.Which one do you prefer Atlantis or Aquaview?
3.Do you catch more fish with one?
4.Any and all comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: Underwater cameras

A guy in the ice shack next to mine this winter had an aquaview hooked up to a 13" screen in his shack. It was kind of neat, you could see the fish, you could see them take your bait and watch em get yanked up.

I don't think he caught more fish, he just knew a little sooner when fish were around. Myself, I just couldn't justify it, even for ice fishing.

Re: Underwater cameras

Our dive rescue team just purchased the aqua vu and I am impressed with the picture quality.

As far as practicality...I am sure the same questions were being asked when sonar/ fishfinders became available and affordable to the average fisherman.

I personally think more people would like to own them but wouldn't want to be seen or admit to using a underwater camera in order to maintain their "Sportsman" image. There is still controversy in many states regarding the legality of underwater camera use so it may be a while yet until they become generally accepted by the sportfishing marketplace. Although I don't have the urge to run out and buy one, I put modest appreciation into the fact that it helps to identify the unerwater environment for developing a successful fishing strategy. Using it as a tool to direct your bait on top of the nose of a fish seems a little too overboard.

I don't get paid to write the rules but if I did, underwater cameras would be fine with me as long as there were no other lines in the water.

Kevin
