I am helping a friend install a new Garmin 440S GPS/Sounder in his boat and interface it with his existing older DSC radio. I know which leads from the Garmin are for the GPS outputs to the radio (Blue).. but here is the question...
The label on the face of the radio only says "Oceanus DSC". The only numbers that I can find on it are 513C UT910... On the back of the radio, inaddition to the antenna / power leads.. are 2 cables exiting the radio with a minature multi-pin plug on each one... one is labeled "REMOTE" and the other labeled "ACCESSORIES".. I can only assume that if I chop off the plug on the accessories cable, I will find the wires that I need to connect to the GPS (Green) and Brown to ground.. The rest of the wires could be taped off.. Before I do this, can anyone offer any suggestions or comments?

Re: Uniden DSC - GPS Interface???

Thanks for the rapid response... I agree about the breakout cable, but the boat is going fishing on Friday. I will attempt to get a small plug connector and break the wires out myself and make the connection... He never plans on using the hailer... Once the connection is made, I will water proof the connection using shrink tube / silicone ... It would have been much simplier if the required leads just came out of the radio as they did on my Standard Quest radio. Thanks again...
