I had posted on the Electronics thread asking if anyone else had experienced the problem I am having, running up to 2500-3000 rpms and thats all. I got a reply from CDI Tech and he gave me the troubleshooting info from CDI. I ordered the universal regulator. Here are some pics. Does it look like the right thing?
The one on the left is the original.

Re: Universal Regulator Pics

Looks like the correct one to me. 2 yellow wires on the replacement regulator are connected to the AC output wires from the stator (which are either yellow or green/yellow depending on year). The tach wire that went to your gray wire on the old regulator gets attached to one of the stator wires ( yellow or green/yellow) on the replacement regulator. The red wire is your DC output for your battery and electronics. Black wires goes to ground. Attach the black wire to the engine block under an existing bolt head or something similar.

yes...compression good, spark good, new fuel pump and hoses, new stator, new plugs. Hopefully this will fix it.

The problem was the highest RPM I could get was around 3000. It didn't choke out when running there, but just seemed like it was being "held back". Boat would not get on plane, and couldnt give speed because speedo doesn't work.

The stator should power the ignition. I've tested my engine with no rectifier hooked up. I capped the ac wires. Ran fine
