I live in MD. I am curious if anyone else in these neck of the woods is thinking about UnWinterizing. I can not decide if it safe or not.

Re: UnWinterizing

according to weather.com the latest freeze ever recorded in baltimore, surprisingly, was May 28, but that was just 32. I'm no expert, but I believe it generally takes a pretty hard freeze to cause any type of motor/drive damage. Prior to that, the latest freeze was april 20 which was 27 degrees. Keep in mind, these are records, AVERAGE lows are well into the 40's by the end of March.

I have similar weather concerns here in KS. We've had freezes as late as early April. However, I began de-winterizing two weekends ago - March 18 I think it was. If it wasn't for some floor repairs taking longer than I'd anticipated it would probably be lake ready by now. Planning to have it in the water in a couple weeks.

Go for it! Anything to make the season longer for the investment made. Your "dollars per day" ratio looks a lot better!

Re: UnWinterizing

I had to install a new outdrive water pump, belts, stern oil etc... I had tro run it anyway to make sure the pump was sealed. That was two days ago. I saw we were getting snow and cold weather and got worried and re winterized. LOL. Oh, and I had to put her on the nice new ShoreLandr. Sweet by the way. I had all of the intention in the world to take it out until this goofy *** weather went sour. I guess I am a little over protective of my boat. However, better safe than sorry.

Re: UnWinterizing

Its time for Rock fishing. Get that boat in the water. I have been " unwinterizing " my boat every April 1st for 10 years now and the closest freeze scare caused me to put a small ceramic heater in the motor well a couple of years ago. You only get the 30-40 pound Rock for a couple of weeks. Get-r-done

The Susquehanna Flats. I like going better at night. I have landed a few fifty lb. cows. What a rush. Going this Friday night if the water clears from the flooding.
