Hi All,
Was out on the water tonight after setting my timing and rebuilding my carb and for the first time the boat actually got on the plain....
Revs maxxed at 4000 rpm and geez it struggled to get out the water but it didn't backfire which was great.
I must admit that I expected this boat to make my fletcher GTO 170 with merc 115 6 cyl inline look slow but it was really a dog on the water.
She topped out at 40mph after waiting for ages to get to 4000rpm and by heck did she lift the bow with that merc high five 23 pitch prop and make a meal of getting there!
Perhaps the boat is not pitched correctly, feels like it needs a 19 but I would take your advice on this.
On a real positive note it was a joy to actually feel the boat running on the water and that progress to getting her 100% is actually being made.
Any advice on prop pitch would be great.
She's a 20.5ft Sundowner 205 with 5.7GL 2BBL Holley... would be great to be able to pull a skier but it seems that would be impossible at the moment.
Best wishes,
Stan
