UPDATE; Stupid human trick: bears den

During deer season one of the neighbors spotted a denned bear on my uncles property.<br /><br />Having never seen a denned bear my uncle myself and a couple others decided to go see it today. As we were walking in the area we finnaly spotted the den and as we approached to within about 15 feet with my cousin in the lead we rounded towards the enterance and my cousin says. "Holy Sh*t it just looked at me that SOB is awake" as he simultaniously turned tail and lead the group out.<br /><br />Needles to say none of the rest of us were brave enoufgh to take a look. He said as he looked in the enterance the bear lifted his head and looked at him. Guess I'll wait until it's a little colder to go back and get a picture. I'll try and post it here when when we decide it's cold enoufgh to return.

neumans, When I was a kid out deer hunting I had a big black bear come out and give me a look. Scared the bejeesus out of me. Dad didn't believe me untill I showed him the tracks and where I was sitting. He has yet to see a bear in the wild while hunting, although we have had them visit camp.

Spinner No Cave I was sitting on the edge of a small cliff and watched him come up from the flat lands he must of been chased out.<br /><br />Besides, We don't need to go looking for Wooooo Woooo. Nothing beats a Jersey Girl. Heck I married one.

Jgregory, I was married to one of those girls from Maine. I guess you could call her a Mainiac! <br />She was bare from time to time and acted like a bear to when she was mad. <br /><br />neumanns, like to see those pics when you get them, hopefully without any holes in you or the bear. <br /><br />SS

hello<br /><br />i saw a tv show not long ago that said altho bears may hibernate, they are light sleepers and will wake up & go back to hibernating many times during the winter. they may even feed, unlike other animals like some frogs, etc. maybe sleepwalkin or something?

Yes bears are prone to come out especially on nicer days although it is usally not to feed. I have been told they are quite heavy sleepers but when awakened take some time to gather there wits. I have also heard there eyesight is poor when awakened. However I was not interested in testing any of these theory's this afternoon. If or when I get photos I will post them here for all to see, but after todays events I believe I'll wait until the temps are in the below zero catagory as she is more likly to be sleeping soundly when its colder ( 30+ degrees today). I do want pics though as this is quite an opertunity.

Actually seeing a bear in the wild is a very rare thing. We don't have many bears down here, but there are some. The only time they are seen is when they get hit by cars.

BE BEARY CAREFUL now! Theory's are nice, but Wild animals have a tendancy to not read these theorys and sometimes do things out of character. Remember the best defense if being attacked by a bear is take someone with you that is not as fast of a runner as you are Insure them heavily! I'm just joking, BE CAREFUL!

Especially if that's a sow with a cub in there. Black bears kill people by disemboweling you with their back claws, not a pleasant way to go.

Did myfishingpics limit the photo size? there limit is now 250kb wich when I resize takes me down to this little bitty pic.or am I resizing it wrong?<br /><br />Anyway here is a pic I took from about six feet. After looking at the pic on my computer (full size) I realized his eye was open. Glad I didn't notice that then!!!<br /><br />
