I am addicted to OMC / BRP Gasket Sealing Compound. Not to say something else won't work. Or even that it will cure the root cause. But copper and aluminum together scares me. Causes electrolysis.

Jimmbo, their light green paper. The feel like they may have a coating on them. Made by Moto Gasket. Thanks!

Did any Instructions come with the Gasket? Do you have a Factory Service Manual? It would say whether a Sealer, and which type would be needed.
Myself, if a Gasket had a coating, I installed them Dry, Plain paper I would uses a Permatex Sealer, usually #2

This is all the Clymer manual says about it. No reference to the exhaust manifold parts:

17. Installation is the reverse of removal.Lubricate drive shaft splines with OMC MolyLube. Coat both sides of a new power head-to-adapter assembly gasket with OMC Gasket Sealing Compound. Rotate power head slightly

Here is what the FACTORY service manual says. HOWEVER, in some cases new and improved gaskets come with a factory coating and no sealer should be added.

OMC / BRP Gasket Sealing Compound... I think Permatex #3, Merc's Perfect Seal, and Edelbrock's Gasgacinch, are the same stuff. At least they all looked and smelled the same. 40 years ago
