I have a 6amp stator on my 97' 115, and would like to know if any of you can tell me if CDI, or someone has an up-grade for a higher out-put stator.
We haven't been an OMC dealer for a few years now, and I no longer have current info as to whats available as far as this goes....
Any ideas????? 6amps just isn't enough with lights, fish-finder, livewell system, and what-not.
Thanks,
Kenny :)

Re: Upgrade charging system

That issue comes up quite a bit with todays fishing boats. It'd be worth a call to CDI/Rapair to see what they have. Talk to TJ or Clark if you can. We've started to look into it before but the flywheel was always the problem.

I ran into the same problem with my 150 cf but I just bought a blown 160 cid powerhead that had the 35 amp system on it and switched it over.

The 60 degree V4's have a 20 amp system and that seems to keep up with everything. Of course the 60 degree V6's have the 35 amp system. Thats plenty of power -- all the way around.

Hummmm......a 60 degree 150.......

Re: Upgrade charging system

You can add the 9 amp stator from the crossflow 90hp as long as you have the water cooled rectifier/regulator on the top aft of the block.

Re: Upgrade charging system

You can put on a water cooled rectifier on your motor. We still have run into that problem even with the 9 amp system.

I may know where there is a rebuildable 60 degree motor if youre interested........

Re: Upgrade charging system

As long as you have the crossflow 90 degree V-4, you can install the 9 amp stator and the $80 water cooled regulator/rectifier, and get rid of your rectifier. The 3/9 system gives a good 3 amps at idle and full 9 amps above 3000 rpm.

Re: Upgrade charging system

The 3/9 would help for sure....If I'm trolling at night, the 6amp won't keep up if my livewell timer is on, lights, and you know the story....
