Upgrading CD3 Ignition

After having trouble with missing and erratic motor problems, i have determined my ignition system is bad. I pulled the flywheel and found the pickup coil coated with a white powdery haze and the stator cracked and melting. The little fuse in the red holder that runs to the stator has been covered with aluminum foil by a previous mechanic. I don't know how to test the powerpack, but will replace it too. My question is this. My motor is a 92 60HP with CD3 ignition that does not have the QuickStart feature. My manual says this feature came in 93. Can I upgrade to a 93 stator, pickup coil, and powerpack and have a 93 ignition system? Would I also have to replace the flywheel? Has anyone done this?

Re: Upgrading CD3 Ignition

Went to dealer today and he says he's not sure what else has to be changed, but he thinks there is a lot of parts that have to be changed. When i look up the chart of parts though the model numbers are the same except the powerpack. Anyone know?
