Don't rub it in bu. Heh heh.

Ya my 226 is well seasoned. Have a 206 top loader too (smaller bobbins). Still a very good machine.

Ahh...you have the 226RB. Is the main difference the bobbin size?

Edit: Wait, isn't that machine in the picture a 206RB?

Not rubbing it in...I'm still pretty ecstatic about the price! It's very comparable to the Consews (set-up, size abilities) Just it lacks a walking foot...what's a brutha to do? I did buy the piping foot attachment and it works awesome. Next is a binding tool, bruceb58 gave me some good advice on that. I'm now pricing the mooring cover material (Sunbrella or the Weathermax 80)? I need just shy of 16 yds for a full cover, so more than likely 10 yds for the mooring covers?

Gator, sorry to hijack...I've actually become fond of the sewing end of the boat stuff...it's extremely gratifying to be able to sew your own upholstery and covers...

My 226 (pictured above) is a bottom loader & uses the bigger bobbins. 206 is under it's cover in the background.

Yup a piping foot aka 'welt' foot is always nice to have. Same goes for a binder.

No worries on the hijack here Brett. Mi thread is su thread! As a matter of fact, I haven't made a bit of progress on this. Haven't even gotten the materials. Been working on the tranny in the tow vehicle, fixing what seems like everything in the house, freezing the old tail feathers off too. Seeing the posts gives me some motivation though, I think I'm gonna cut the new plywood and order the materials...right after the snowstorm that is supposed to hit VA this afternoon.

Stay warm and dry...keep updating this between those posting and your patience, you'll be pumping out high quality upholstery in no time! My last project (The Baja) I used an ancient Free-Westinghouse sewing machine (also free, not sure I get so lucky with machines?) I'd worked, but I went thru a lot of needles...the quality was fair, not professional, but better than average! Here's the LINK for a little more inspiration. It was my first time ever using a sewing machine, let alone a such a large project!

Cheers!

Trust me, if I can do canvas & upholstery any idiot can. (With the right equipment & material.)

It's a long, convoluted story but I fell into the trade bout 12 yrs ago. Had never used a sewing machine in my life. Dude I bought the business from was gracious enough to stick around for a few months to show me the ropes.

I 'member once he told me, "It gets easier". Still waiting for that to happen ... I sweat each & every job, cuz I want them to look the best. I'll hold my stuff up to any of my competitors.

Speaking of WAC cockpit covers here's the one I finished today:

Looks very nice! Hoping I can achieve even a little bit of that level of skill on my covers!
