Re: Using Deep Creep How much to use?

I have used a single can of Deep Creep on my motor and I got lots of smoke, indicating to me that it was sufficient to get some results. I don't know if a second or third can would have provided additional decarbing. I guess it depends on how much carbon buildup there is.

As an alternative to spraying Deep Creep, I have also used the "portable fuel tank with Sea Foam" method with good results. With this method you do not get as much intense smoke, which can be a problem with neighbors and such. Below is a link describing how this is done.

Half a can is enough for one time overnight D/C
Spray it well through the carbs till a stall if ya can. Then pull the plugs and spray in there best ya can. Let it sit overnight. Crank it over to blow out excess, plugs in, smoke the "hood. Carry an extra set on plugs, as the D/C will foul them pretty easy

Re: Using Deep Creep How much to use?

I just decarboned my engine (1996 Merc 150 Offshore), and I used the 1 gal gas can and a bottle of Sea Foam. All I have to say is "wow, that's a lot of smoke".

I used the Dunk method (aka...the method detailed on the link in the thread above) from Capt. Bob Dunkelberger. Two 15 minutes sessions followed by 15 minutes in between seemed to be the ticket. It was very easy to do, and I didn't have to remove the engine cowl or airbox to get to my carbs like I would have had to do with Deep Creep.

I plan to do the same procedure every 50-60 hours or so, so probably two-three times per season. It's easy enough, and it's cheap to do, so I figure that it can't hurt.
