How much is enough? Im using it on gaskets that go on the raisers and it goes on with a brush..The gaskets have rubber on them that go around the water ports but I want to use enough but not too much that it get in the water opening. Will just a thin coat do the job? Also..Does it go around the part of the gasket that goes around the exhaust outlet of the riser? I would think not because nothing goes on the gasket between the manifold and block and it seems like the same type of material on the gasket.

The book says apply perfect seal on the gasket part surrounding the water port for riser, spacer and manifold..The rest is what stays dry I believe?

#31 manual for mercruiser, Mercruiser gaskets for risers for 2003 5.0 mpi S/N 624000...These gaskets have square in middle for exhaust and round ends for water.

Look at page 7C-6 it should answer your question.

It's there for corrosion protection more than sealing. The rubber rings do the sealing the sealer just protects the edges from corrosion.
