Hey guys I have a 1994 wellcraft eclipse 196s with a 4.3 alpha 1 engine. I’m getting a squealing noise when I take off so I was wanting some advice on changing these belts. Photo of my mercruiser below thank s

Unless the V belt is loose. In most cases your power steering pump belt needs replacing

That’s what I was thinking I just haven’t ever changed one. I see a Allen head in the center of the pulley. Is that where you go about changing it? Thank s

I stuck a screwdriver behind the belt and turned it with a ratchet and it popped off now to find a replacement looks to be 57-816295 DF

Try tightening them first. No that Allen screw in the middle of the pulley is not for changing the belts. Look closely behind/around the pump, you will see the brackets. A loose alternator belt will squeal easily if it’s loose. You can go to your local automotive parts store and get new belts. They are the same as merc parts, just labeled different. Also you will have to loosen the brackets to get the new belts on.

There is a nut behind the power steering pump which is loosened so the pump can be moved to loosen the belt to remove it
