Sister and future brother in law, just bought 23' Chris Craft deckboat. 5.7 Volvo with this outdrive. on the stearn is a hose connection to fresh water flush the engine. my question is when on the trailer do you have to have muffs on the outdrive to start this engine to protect the impeller? my think is this hose connection is for flushing the engine itself with fresh water while in the slip. please enlighten me on this subject.

if its a volvo outdrive theres probably no impeller in the outdrive, its a crank mounted one on the engine so no muffs are even needed. is there a slot in the drive with a strainer on it? for the muffs to go over? there should be a pump mounted on the bottom puller of the engine. driven of of the crankshaft. yeah huskies do rule!!! my huskie

Depends on where the hose is attached to the engine. Before or after the raw water pump?<br /><br />I also think your drive SN is wrong, it shows it list for a 4.3 Engine on a Crownline boat.

thanks, yes there is a strainer on the out drive. DonS the number may have been transposed, i read them bro wrote them down.. Product # 3868890 ratio 1.51 can't verify #'s till next weekend. i just don't want them to burn up an impeller. yes you have a beautiful baby. my boats are name tashas toy I, II, III.

SN mistyped 4112058557 sorry. i'm still trying to be perfect. the boat will be in the Fla keys during August, along with 2 of my outboards. i don't want any trouble. yes i'm taking tools, just in case.

That number worked better, he has a WT model 5.7GS engine. If you want you can head over to Volvo and download an owners manual. The engine SN is 4110179640<br /><br /> http://www.volvo.com/volvopenta/global/en-gb/marineengines/operators_manual/operators_manual.htm <br /><br />Since it is a 99 vintage engine, it doesn't have the hose I thought it might have. It's always safest to use the muffs if you're not sure where that hose hooks to on the engine.

I've got an outdrive boat, I just don't have the sail boat anymore.

don.s engine SN did not work on the link. they also wash the boat down without the bilge pump not being on or the drain being out. i think the soaked the starter.
