Manual specifies Starter Pinion lube 337016 for the pinion shaft splines and pinion housing bearing.

Extreme OMC Extreme Pressure Grease for the gear housing bearing.

Triple Guard Grease on the gears. (I have that)

Any substitutes for the first two I listed, that I can pick up at the local Auto parts store?

Thanks for your reply.

You could try going to a good BRP Dealer and buying a small amount of it. Most good Dlr's use it back in their shops.

The starter shaft needs a light oil, like sewing machine oil or a 3 in 1 oil.

Extreme pressure grease can be found at any auto parts store.

The ep grease is a little heavy for the armature bearing/bushing. When it gets cold outside, the starter may turn slowly. I use a waterproof white lithium grease in the starter. Merc sells it in small tubes: 2-4-C.
