Re: Vasectomy Anyone?

Never say never unless all the necessary parts are in a bucket somewhere else. When my wife was working as an L&D nurse she took care of a couple where the wife had a tubal ligation and the husband had a vasectomy. The failure rate of either procedure is around 1/1000 so that baby was 1 in a million. They had a good attitude about it and took it as a sign from God that they were supposed to have another baby.

Purely a personal decision, but it sure saved me a ton of money on child support for two different women during my single days in the mid 70's.

Back in the 80's, the guy in the office next to me (and his wife) had a child. They were pretty happy with that and decided to stop there so she had a tubal ligation. Not long after that they had their second child, so he decided to have a vasectomy. It wasn't too much later until they had the twins. What was that line from Jurassic Park....."somehow life will find a way".

A young man walks into his doctors office. The doctor asks, what the problem? The young man says, I want to be castrated. The doctor is shocked and tells the boy there's no way he'll do it. The boy says he'll go to another doctor to be castrated, so the doctor says wait, I don't want you going to some quack, do this, take a week to think about it and then come back. If you still want to be castrated I'll do it. The boy says, OK but it's no big deal, I just want to be castrated. A week goes by and the boy returns and the doctor is surprised to hear he still wants to be castrated. The big day comes, the doctor is beside the boy in the hospital before they take him into the operating room. He tells the boy, listen, if you want to back out it's ok. The boys says, no really, I'm looking forward to it. Later in the recovery room the doctor is with the boy as he wakes up. Oh good, says the doctor. I wanted to be here when you woke up to reassure you. Everything went fine, no complications, in fact the only unusual thing was that I didn't realize you were never circumcised. Oh, Circumcised, says the boy, that's the word I meant!

Nothing changes, except you can't have kids. Ok there are a few miracle incidents out there but it is even more riskier with other types of birth control . But your sex drive doesn't change. Nothing about you changes. What is really comes down to is whether you want to have more kids or any kids. Whether you want to be in control of that decision or you want someone else to be in control. Whether you want your mate to be healthier

Re: Vasectomy Anyone?

So me and my GF decided it was time for us to get married, nothing big we just went down to the JP and viola we were married, we had discussed kids but WE decided we were done and ready to move on in our lives together, I brought three daughters and she brought one son, and together we were going to do our best to have a nicely blended family.

two weeks after we got married my wife comes to me and says I have been having thoughts about another baby, I asked her what kind of thoughts? she says she is going to be fourty in a couple years and sometimes feels that mommy feeling and wants another baby so I told her hold on I need to do something..

I walked into another room and called my family physician that I have known for more then 20 years, we have gone hunting together and regularly shoot together, the SOB Still owes me a case of beer from a bet he lost about me being able to manage my cholesterol levels without drugs.

Doc I need a Vasectomy and I mean NOW, told him the story scheduled the procedure the next day and thats been almost ten years and I am still with my wife.

Yeah she was a little mad but I don't care, my first wife made raising our kids a veritable 18 year war with the kids in the middle, no wonder my kids hate her now, so now we get to wait until we get to be grand parents....no rush!!

The fringe bennie was telling the ole lady we had to do it a lot so I could go back and be tested. :D Can't remember how many days. I think it is based on how many times you have sex. 5 to 10 times should do it then you get tested. There is no way after that unless the doc didn't do it right and your tube grew back together. That would be very rare. Good docs fix it so that can't happen. Once your empty, how would it happen? Has made our sex life much better. No change in function

yup - and since, all my girlfriends have loved it :>)

DC has it right. Absolutely nothing changes and your wife isn't on birth control (which is a good thing). Read about the procedure - it's just a plumbing change and the boys aren't bothered. I hardly had any discomfort during the days following. That was 18 years ago after we decided we were through having kids. And I'm telling you, nothing changes (except for the additional children.)

Re: Vasectomy Anyone?

It's about 38 years ago in my case, after my fourth child.

I didn't take seriously the instructions I received from the doctor regarding my activities following it, and therefore:

1. After resuming my regular job the next day (electrician), I needed the next two days off to recuperate from the aches I developed as a result of straining myself.
2. I...uh...put the vasectomy to use, so to speak, too soon, and BOY DID THAT HURT! Like immediately!

So I say this - it's nothing to be afraid of, but follow the doc's directions about post operational activities. And I mean, follow 'em closely!

Had it done last month. No issues. Like others have mentioned, follow the doc's orders. REST UP for 2-3 days. I felt fine the day of, and the next day, but I still plopped my *** in my chair and drank beer and watched TV. It was boring, thats for sure, but I'm glad I did it. Back to work on Monday with like nothing happened.
