Verify outdrive lube is clean without totally dumping it?

So I barely used the boat this season, like to the point I didn't use a full tank of gas. I'm about to winterize and seems like a waste to dump all the gear lube that was barely used which I replaced last fall.

Having any water in there is a big no no since the boat will see -40C temperatures. Lube was clean when I last did it last year.

Just do it or can I skip this? Leaning towards doing it.

We’ll water should be at the bottom so you could just check it but. I’d spend the $20 and do it right

Be silly not to change it really. Or at least check what’s at the bottom when you open the plug for a second or two, then change next year. Manual will likely suggest changing every so many hours…or every year…whichever comes first. Added to this…if it’s an alpha with her dog straight cut gearing…it’s always good to have fresh oil each year. Outdrives are expensive to replace…oil isn’t.

To save $20 your call. My brother does that as he sometimes only gets 5-6 hrs a season. check the bottom for milk or water, make sure its full, but by the time you do that… what are u saving .
