Very hard to start/barely idle

I have a 94 Yamaha 130 that is giving me fits. It sat unused last year and of course wouldn't start this spring. I decided to freshen it up with new impeller and t-stats and poppit valve. Also completely rebuilt carbs, new fuel pump and water seperater. The engine started and ran and idled perfectly. We used it a couple of times-low rpm runs on the river(no wake zone). After 20 to 30 minutes the alarm would go off. I shut it down and waited a couple of minutes and restarted and it was fine. After 5 minutes or so same thing. I noticed the engine mounted oil tank was not filling. Oil was midway between marks. Topped it off but alarm would still go off sometimes. It was using oil, I had to top it off a few times. The last time out the engine started idling rough and stopped. I could barely get it started and went home. I replaced the remote oil tank pump and filter and replaced the sparkplugs. It is still very hard to start and will not idle. I thought something might have got into the carbs so I pulled the top one and noticed condensation on the inside of the throttle plates. Is this my problem and if so where could the water be coming from? The carb was clean otherwise. Thanks for any help. Jeff.

check the compression and spark,
pray that you did not fill the engine oil pump with debris when you pulled the screen assy out of the engine tank and did not retrieve and replace the screen to tank seal.

Re: Very hard to start/barely idle

Thanks for the reply rodbolt. I just came back from doing a compression test and got two 110's and two 115's. I was aware of the screen to tank seal. Removed and replaced with a new one when I did the remote oil pump and filter. I'm concerned about the water condensation on the throttle plates, or is this normal? I have the top carb removed and when cranking the engine for comp test there was no gas coming out of fuel line. Could this be a fuel pump problem? Thanks again.
