vibration in stern of boat

i have a 1978 cris craft dory inboard that has a vibration when running a 2,800 to 3,000 rpms in stern of boat.prop has been reconditoned
but i do notice that there is approx 1/8 inch play in prop shaft where it
goes thrut strut bearing.could this be the cause of vibration or should shaft be removed and checked for bent condition.

I would pull the shaft and take it to a machine shop and see how true it is.
