Just got done swapping just about everything out of my 14' Hydroswift into my 15' Starcraft.

Replaced the old 60 HP evinrude for a '68 Merc 950.
Swapped seats, steering, etc...

Here's a youtube video of my first test run today.

One thing that kinda bothered me, and don't think there's much I can do (maybe one of you have a good idea) is the water is coming up, hitting something, maybe the motor mount, and spraying a big fan tail.

This wasn't the case on the hydroswift, but as I said, I don't know if there's much I can do at this point.

Two vids, first boat and after swap... Both in Dexter Lake in Oregon:

Frequently a sign of the engine sitting just a bit too low.

the motor is definitely sitting too low in the water.

the AV plate (flat plate just above prop) needs to be even to 2 inches above the keel of the boat.

Well I went out and it looks like the AV plate is about 1" below the keel.

Do you know if there is an easy adjustment on this motor (1968 Merc 950) to raise it 3", or am I going to have to take it off, yet again, and raise the transom?

i don't know for sure on that age motor, but they usually have 3 or 4 mounting holes, on the motor. no need to raise transom.

Very good news. I'll go out and check it out right now.

Raise the motor

Raise the motor

To raise the motor, don't change the bolt holes in the transom. Move the bolts into different holes in the engine bracket.

I would guess, off the top of my head, the 3rd hole from the top (counting down from the top).

Take a flat ruler and put it on the top of the anticavitation plate facing the transom. Measure with a tape from the bottom of the hull up to the the ruler.

If not at least 1", raise it. Then launch.

Have your buddy take some video from the back of the boat, looking at the engine and post it.

I'll do that. My job is relocating me from Oregon, up to Seattle area of Washington, so it might be a little.

New title, Tags, numbers, etc...

Now my trailer even legally is going to have to have a title, plates, and tags!

Oregon doesn't require trailers to be registered, so I've been lucky!

I'll post that video as soon as I launch up there. It will be fun to have some new waters to play in!
