Re: Viking 9.2 hp. need info

That's a 1969 9.2hp Eaton's Viking built by Chrysler, back when they also made outboards.
Fuel Mixture is 24:1 87 octane gas to TCW-3 rated outboard oil.
I'm not sure about the spark plug and gap. You might try asking the same question in the Chrysler forum.
Good luck, and welcome to Iboats.

Re: Viking 9.2 hp. need info

hey, thanks!I have posted this on other forums and get mix anywhere from 20:1 to 50:1 .why is this?
Can I use 50:1? do the modern oils make the ratio change?I had an old mccullock that was 100:1

Re: Viking 9.2 hp. need info

I don't know if you can use 50:1. It really depends on the construction of the engine. Many older engines that specified a heavier mix used that extra oil to operate plain (not roller) bearings and oil slingers rather than proper oil lip seals. In other words, they require the extra volume of oil rather than extra lubrication the heavier mix offered.
You may be hearing 50:1 since the '69 Chrysler 9.9hp engine took that, as did all their engines that year except the 3.5hp. Clearly, Chrysler was selling it's older (previously made in 66-67) 9.2hp engines to Eatons to resell. These older engines needed the 24:1. The Chrysler 3.5hp which was made up until '69 required 16:1 - perhaps that's where the 20:1 comes from.
