Does anyone know if the vin is stamped elsewhere on the 89 Bass Tracker trailers? just bought one and the plate was removed but its a Tracker Marine and looks to match the boat (in age). we called TM and they were of no help as they cannot helpt but assume we "stole" the boat and wont give out any info. thanks. Does you state even title boat trailers? I know that some don't, here in Montana, if you don't have a title you can have the trailer inspected then they will assign you a serial number and title the trailer as a homebuilt, it is real hard to prove a boat trailer is stolen in Montana.

Do you have registration for the trailer? Most trailer's I've had don't have a vin stamped anywhere on them. They have a sticker with the vin# on it which lasts a few years if you're lucky

Thanks for all of your replies . We may go the homemade route, and amother thought is to track down the former owner via New Jersey where it was registered. Tracker says there is another number on the trailer that would help id but we can't find it. Pa requires go through the court system , it's a pain and time consuming.

Seems to me that finding the vin would do you no good without a reg or title... I would think tracking down the last legal owner would be the best choice. If you were to show up with the needed power of attorney forms requiring them to simply sign and possibly notarize along with a crisp $50 bill not many folks would refuse you.

That said, if there is a discreet number in the frame you could contact your local police... Very likely the manufacturer will readily tell law enforcement where it is...

Another thought, take it to the dealer and ask them to look at this hidden vin and tell you the number or stamp it on the tongue without telling you where it's hidden.

Last thought.... Remove tail lights and or markers if needed and look inside the frame with a flashlight.
