The vinyl on my boat is in overall really good condition except for discoloration. I used SEM vinyl paint (available on iboats) on 2 cushions yesterday and they came out great. Vibrant color and still soft. But, I am wondering about the color. The white sure is WHITE!! Thinking of changing the color to a less vibrant white, if I can find it. Looking for opinions on whether the white I used stands out too much before I do the rest of the vinyl.

Maybe try an off white or eggshell color. Test the colors on the back of a cushion first before doing the visible part to be sure it's what you want.

As I expected I am getting mixed suggestions. The color I chose was Carver White. The online color is this:

Which does not look as bright at it came out.
The only other choices I have are these, which probably are not the actual color that will come out of the can. Any preferences?

How bad or good does the color I used look?

Before and after on the cushion, I prefer the after white white, but it does stand out against an off white hull.

The Ranger white would be my best guess to more closely match the hull.

SeaRay White appears to have a peach tint to it on my screen and the Ranger Off White has a yellow tint to it. But again. Thats on my screen......

Here is another thought. What about changing the color completely? How would one of these look with the blue and hull color? I am leaning towards the Formula M25203

Color change will show up if you swap the colors. This stuff will scratch. Stay with a like color you wont regret it

Have you had any experiance with the SEM vinyl paint? I haven't read that it will scratch, but never used it before yesterday.

I have used several types of vinyl paint and dyes. The under color still remains. This just coats the top. It remains flexible but it will show when scraped. I have never had one last forever 3 to 5 years is an average time.

I would be happy if it lasts 3-5 years. Might take me 7 to 9 cans to do all the vinyl. A lot cheaper than having it reupholstered. If I get enough positive replies about changing to the Formula Gray I might just invest the $ and take a chance. Otherwise I will just stick with the bright white.

The darker you make it, the hotter the cushions will be out in the sun. Maybe that lighter shade of grey would be easier to live with?

Thanks for all the replies. I decided I will stick with the white white. Will post more pics as I progress. I only ordered one can of paint to test the product. Will order 5 more and see how far it goes.

Stick w/the bright white,.. over time it will match better.

on a side note I had two small tears in my vinyl, and those 'vinyl repair kits' absolutely suck! ....made it look worse!! So, I got a tube of high quality silicone (like outdoor window silicone in white so i could tint) bought some Testers enamels in different colors, mixed till I was happy with the color, then applied,...still looks great two yrs later, barely noticeable.

Go to the Dollar Tree and buy a Bottle of this...

LA's Totally Awesome All-Purpose Cleaner. It really is AWESOME. I cleans marine vinyl Very Very Well. Spray it on, let it sit for a minute, stiff bristle brush, then wipe off with damp rag. If it won't remove the stain then at least if will for sure enhance the adherance of the paint.

Following the Mfg suggestions I got these 2 products. A little expensive but figured the Mfg knows what works best.

The better you prep the better it sticks. I also think they have a primer that promotes adhesion.

Made a little progress today Got one of the chairs done today. Hopefully, will get the other one done tomorrow. The hardest part is getting the tape on the blue part and keeping it off the white part. Lots of little pieces to get around the curves.
