Hi, new to the forums but a long time boater. I was wondering if there is any way to wire a transom mounted switch to my 2005 28 foot Four Winns Funship with a 5.7 Volvo Penta Duoprop. The switch on my throttle is a "no limit" switch and I would like to have another "no limit" switch on my swim platform because we use a troll plate to slow down and swim at beaches a lot.

I noticed that Four Winns includes this option for some of their newer model Volvo's, yet this was not an option on Volvo's for the 05 model year.

I am experienced with electrical work and can work my way around wiring, switches, and relays with ease. I just wanted to know if there is an easy way to do this or if I'm going to have to use a system of relays.

Any input, products (switches or buttons), or wiring diagrams would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yea it can be done. You will need a waterproof 3 position switch. Then go thru and find the center power/possibly ground lead and then search out the up/down leads.Jerry

Re: Volva Penta Sterndrive Transom Mounted Trim Switch

I was thinking of using 2 momentary waterproof push button switches (normally off). I know my wire harness has 3 wires, a 12-volt to the throttle switch, and two out for the up and down. Am I correct in assuming that all the switch does is complete the circuit to some relays that change the polarity too the hydraulic pump?

I'm attaching a rough diagram of what I'm thinking. Thanks
