Update - happy ending but then...
Hi captmello et al,
Thank you all for your helpful advice and comments. I was able to take Privateer out of the water in the Spring and carry our all the necessary jobs, including the tilt mechanism. Upon inspection the vice rod was seriously bent and the threaded end of the housing was completely broken off. So, the only option was a complete new tilt mechanism. Just under ?500 but it was quick and easy to fit and works perfect. Don't know what all the fuss was about!
Also fitted Bennett Trim Tabs (excellent) to overcome strugle to get on/stay on the plane.
So everythings hunky dory, nice trip to Poole Harbour, but on the return trip next morning one of the main raw water hoses blew. Towed in (thank you Nick, SeaStart, Hamble). Will start a new post re overheating.
