I have 8.1 with closed water cooling and have a leak at the sea water pump. I assumed it was the large O-ring and replaced it. Now looking at it closer it is coming out of the hole shown in the pic. I assume it is the back seal shown in parts diagram numbered 6.
Is this correct? How does one change this seal? Just pry it out and press the new one in?

Yes that's the seal , you will have to get the pulley off the engine to work on it. Don't need rtv sealent on the o ring.

I had same problem last year. I did not remove pulley. I picked out the old one with a dental pick and needle nose pliers and gentle pressed/tapped the new one in with similar sized deep socket until flush.

The pulley is held on by 3 cap screws 5/16 Allen key, They are tight but it makes renewing the seal and I would suggest the bearing too much easier on the bench.
Do a search on this forum and you will find both the bearing size and the seal size, also instructions on YouTube.
If the seal is leaking then it is likely the bearing has water inside. Parts bill should not be much more than $50 from an auto parts store.

Got it done, put back on, and tested. I was able to find a generic bearing and seal at the local supply store.
