Volvo Cobra SX Drive

i just bought a 1997 4 winns bow rider with a Volvo Cobra SX OD motor block is junk interior is junk no canvas but the price was good

i am trying to decide if i want to fix the boat or part it out or save the OD for different boat

how good are these SX Drives, if i get crazy and want to build a 350 or 383 how much hp will these take

what is the max RPM for them

then the other way i have a line on a boat with an OMC 4.3 V6 1995 with a cracked lower, would this OD work or are the gears way different

what is the drive worth assuming it is good

will this one fit in a mercruser and or yamaha transom hole

SX are great drives. Mercruiser has Alpha and Bravo drives depending on what HP you have. Volvo uses the SX through pretty much all HP ranges.

As far as gearing, what engine do you have in your 97 four winns? That will determine what gearing your SX will have.

The older Volvo, (pre Cobra) had a different transom hole. The SX is a standard transom cut-out as is Mercruiser. Not sure about Yamaha, but I would think it is the same.

Agreed i believe volvo ran them with 420 hp engine's and they did...with big blocks so they can handle the tourqe

thanks the motor is a 5.7 chevy 2 barrel
is there a gear ratio list somewhere

Should be stamped onto the side of the drive...

Does your 97 Four Winns have a door under the center windshield window that blocks the wind from coming thru from the bow seating area? If you are parting the boat, I would be interested in that door and hardware.
