Volvo Penta 3.0GS PNCS - what kind of maintenance do I need to start with for this?

I am buying a 1995 Crestliner Sportfisher 1750 which has the 3.0GS PNCS engine. It has been garaged for the past 2 summers.

We got it running yesterday but it idles rough - it seems to miss - and the carb is too rich. I've got a rebuild kit on the way.

Also, new cap and rotor, plugs, wires, thermostat and gaskets.

Does the Seafoam decarb procedure do anything for these engines? I've dumped a can in the gas tank but am considering dumping the fuel and starting over. Should I? Or will dumping more stabilizer in there help at all and save the gas? It has about 15-17 gallons in there yet.

What else should I be looking to replace now or before next season as part of a maintenance schedule.

Thanks for your help guys. I've been reading some in the forums but there is sooo much to digest - I could go crazy trying to piece it together on my own.

Pump out the 2 year old fuel.

Don't bother with the snake oil. It accomplishes nothing.

Change the engine oil and gear oil. Change the raw water pump impeller if you don't know how old it is. You should be changing it every 2 to 3 years anyway.

Pull the drive and inspect the u-joints, gimbal bearing and check alignment of the gimbal bearing.

Ok. Impeller kit is on the way.

What is the forum consensus on Sierra components versus OEM? I understand (correct me if I am wrong) that iboats sells Sierra?

Buy OEM. The only thing I may buy Sierra is o-rings.

Nothing will restore gas. If you feel it's bad or don't know then get rid of it and start fresh. New fuel/water separator filter. Again... the filter will not make bad gas good. Get rid of it and use a fresh filter with fresh gas.
