I've got a volvo penta AQ131A w/a 275 outdrive. I had the alternator rebuilt last year before the maiden voyage...just one of the major things I've done to it...Anyway, I'm not getting a voltage reading above 12v until the engine revs to about 2000 rpm. I'm pretty sure it's not putting out until 2000 rpm b/c of my two sources of information 1) Guage on Dash and 2) Fish/Depth Finder has a Voltage reading that changes with engine rpm's. Have I not installed the alternator correctly? Or, is this normal??

Thanks in advance for any information.

Nope, doesn't sound right. You need a volt meter to test it more accurately.

Check all your connections. May want to pull the alternator and have it bench tested.
