Well the ram repair has been done thanks to all who helped, one of the piston seals was broken, the other badly worn.
One issue i had was the long socket had a step down inside below the flutes that i had too mill away, as it fouled on the eye of the ram, i used a die grinder with a carbide burr, otherwise a short burst with the rattle gun & all good.
One other thing, there was no "o" ring at the outer sealing surface where the head meets the barrel, just some grease, although there was no sign of leaking, oil or water, there is a seal further in the barrel for oil, since there was an "o" ring in the kit i used it & all seems well, will be back in the water on Monday for a test after some antifoul. Cheers Ray.
